IT'S WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH !

‘For most of history, anonymous was a woman.’

Not this time.

Hello there Kaki Kings and Queens!

As this wonderful women’s history month comes to an end; we would like to pay tribute to the women that have contributed so significantly to shaping who we are and the excellence of what we do. Today, we are excited to tell the tale of one of our unsung heroes; Julie. The talented artisan of your favourite; ‘The K-Tote!’

She is the brilliant mind behind our beautifully handcrafted African tote bags, hailing all the way from Kampala, Uganda. She is currently among the heroes behind the beautiful artistry produced by Kaki Kavod, S.Official and other Ugandan businesses. Being a part of her journey for the past eight years has brought to light some of the most beautiful things about the power of a woman. Through her story, I watched as she wielded the sheer force and power of love to give those she loved everything they needed to live a full life. Knowing that she had to sustain her mother, she chose to pour her heart and soul into her work, with zeal. This inevitably moulded her into the excellent powerhouse that she is right now. In some way, her mother connected her deeply to this gift deeply seated within her. Sometimes, our blessings are sometimes clothed in humanity and for Kaki Kavod, Julie is one such blessing.

Throughout the eight years, I have had the honour of watching her bloom. She has inspired me in so many ways. Being a part of her life showed me that human potential is boundless; if we are willing to hone our craft. Back then, I had no idea that she could do half the things she is doing with her life right now. But she believed in herself, and put in the work, even when no one was watching. She fought for the life she wanted, and achieved it! One of the best decisions we could ever make in our lives is to pour our all into our dreams.

In life, we are all warriors of some sort at heart. We’re all putting up a fight to attain the life we desire.  Some wage wars, some labour and toil, some kill, and some take it a day at a time, competing with no one else, but their past selves. And I have come to the discovery that these are the best warriors of this age. We walk amongst them, live amongst them, we eat, laugh and live with them, and never truly see that we are surrounded by greatness.

The little things that will always count, and without the little things, greatness would be only but a myth. Ladies and gentlemen; we dedicate this women’s history month to Julie; our woman of the month.
